Jun 2023, 21:51Minister of Defence Antti Kaikkonen has authorised the Defence Forces to procure armoured 6x6 personnel carriers from Patria. A total of 91 armoured personnel carriers with equipment will be procured for the Army. In addition to the vehicles, user and maintenance training are included in the procurement, which also includes a provision to procure more vehicles, at the most 70.

The agreement also included a purchase option up to 70 vehicles of which the Finnish Defence Forces now redeems 40 vehicles. Vehicle deliveries are currently underway.

Neben einer Vielzahl kleinerer Änderungen und der Anpassung an Bedarfe sind zudem Verpflichtungsermächtigungen in Milliardenhöhe ausgebracht worden, etwa für die Beschaffung des Nachfolgers für den Transportpanzer Fuchs. Diese Verpflichtungsermächtigungen sind teilweise als Anschlussfinanzierung ab 2028 für Projekte aus dem Sondervermögen Bundeswehr gedacht.

Die ersten Radpanzer sollen schon im Mai geliefert werden, mit Abschluss der Lieferungen im Oktober. Inkludiert ist auch ein Ausbildungs- und Supportpaket.

https://www.edrmagazine.eu/the-latest-on-the-new-6x6The 1.9 tonnes of the NEMO are fully compatible with the 8.5 tonnes payload of the Patria 6×6, roughly one third of the maximum combat weight, and customers having various options to think thoroughly to fully exploit this capability. One way to use part of the payload is to improve protection, clearly less than half of it being needed to bring the basic Level to up to Level 4. Patria has developed its own solutions for standard armour however it is cooperating at numerous solutions provided by armour specialists “in Denmark, Germany, Switzerland and Israel” we were told, mostly in the passive and in the active domains.
Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace (KONGSBERG) has signed a contract with Patria for the delivery of PROTECTOR remote weapon stations on more than 300 Patria vehicles that the Finnish company is delivering to Sweden and Finland.
The contract has a value of about NOK 1.2 billion.
KONGSBERG will deliver its PROTECTOR RS4 weapon stations to Patria’s Common Armoured Vehicle Systems (CAVS), which is a well protected and highly mobile modular 6x6 vehicle.

Am Montag war derweil in Medien über einen anderen Großauftrag für Rheinmetall spekuliert worden. Demnach sollten die Düsseldorfer den Fuchs als Transportpanzer liefern und damit den finnischen Wettbewerber Patria ausgestochen haben.
Dies sei nicht korrekt, berichteten mehrere mit den Vorgängen vertraute Personen. Es gebe keine Entscheidung in diese Richtung. Die Unternehmen äußerten sich nicht dazu.
