Italy – Assault Amphibious Vehicles

The U.S. Department of State has made a determination approving a possible Foreign Military Sale to the Government of Italy for Assault Amphibious Vehicles and related equipment. The estimated total cost is $30.6 million.

The Government of Italy has requested to buy three (3) Assault Amphibious Vehicles (AAVs), Command Variant (AAVC-7A1); and four (4) Assault Amphibious Vehicles, Recovery Variant (AAVR-7A1). The following non-MDE items will also be included: support equipment; radar-scattering camouflage netting kits; unclassified technical manuals; and other related elements of program and logistics support.

The AAVs will be transferred from United States Marine Corps stock.

HITFIST LIGHT

The Leonardo HITFIST LIGHT project was launched to provide engineering and system design support for the integration of a lightweight turret platform. The objective was to develop the turret frame, cradle, ammunition box, ammunition guidance system for the coaxial machine gun, and other structural subassemblies.

Valhalla was responsible for the mechanical engineering, turret design, structural development, manufacturing, and integration support throughout the project. A key engineering challenge was achieving a lightweight yet highly rigid structure while ensuring reliable ammunition handling and seamless integration of other turret components.

The project was successfully completed for Leonardo, meeting the customer's engineering and system integration requirements to the highest standards. The project further strengthened our expertise in lightweight turret development and complex defence system integration.
