Airbus teams will install the DIRCM protection system from Elbit Systems on a total of 23 aircraft during scheduled maintenance at Airbus in Manching, southern Germany, as well as in Getafe and Seville, Spain. These 23 aircraft are used for tactical operations, including medical evacuation missions in crisis areas. In contrast, the logistical variant of the A400M is deployed for standard operations such as long-range transport of troops, heavy armoured vehicles, helicopters or specialised civil engineering equipment.

Dass für dieses Subsystem über zwöf Jahre Vorarbeit notwendig waren, ist eigenartig. Die US Air Force hat ihr LAIRCM 2009 in Auftrag gegeben und noch im selben Jahr in 185 Luftfahrzeuge eingebaut.

Le Bourget/France, 16-18 June 2025 - The OCCAR (Organisation for Joint Armament Co-operation)-EA Director, Joachim Sucker and the Head of OCCAR Programmes, Darren Ash, concluded a successful three-day visit to the International Paris Air Show 2025.

Highlights of the visit included the signing of a Letter of Intent (LOI) between OCCAR and Airbus Defence and Space formalising their intention to pursue #A400M production. The LOI was signed by OCCAR´s A400M Programme Manager, Philippe Bourgault and Gerd Weber, Head of A400M Programme/CEO at Airbus Defence and Space. The signing ceremony was also attended by Jean-Brice Dumont Head of Air Power.
