VOP CZ hat 2023 eine Kooperationsvereinbarung mit Thales über den Thales Bushmaster unterzeichnet. In weiterer Folge soll über dieses Unternehmen die Beteiligung der tschechischen Industrie an der Beschaffung erfolgen.

VOP CZ und Thales haben diese Woche einen Industrietag in Šenov bei Nové Jičín veranstaltet. Dazu wurden Vertreter des tschechischen Verteidigungsministeriums und des Generalstabs eingeladen.

The Bushmaster Protected Mobility vehicle, manufactured by Thales in Australia, was recently presented to representatives of the Czech Ministry of Defence, Army and General Staff on site at the facility of Czech company, VOP CZ s.p. The event, entitled ‘Bushmaster Days,’ served as an opportunity for VOP CZ to showcase how the Bushmaster can address the Czech Armed Forces protected mobility requirements with proven protection and survivability.

Within the project known as UKP-ŽV (Univerzální kolová platforma ženijního vojska; ENG: Universal Wheeled Platform for Engineer Troops) the Army of the Czech Republic (Armáda České Republiky; AČR) intend to acquire 50 vehicles in three versions for route clearance (MRAP-RCP, 12 units), explosive ordnance disposal (UKP-EOD, 22 units) and engineer support (UKP-ŽEN, 16 units).

Die Leistungsbeschreibung ist leider nicht zugänglich. Es ist nur bekannt, dass es sich um eine "Universelle Radplattform mit ballistischem Schutz" in unterschiedlichen Versionen handeln soll.

2023 wurde das Projekt als "Ausstattung der Pioniertruppe mit ballistisch geschützten Fahrzeugen zur Durchführung von Pionieraufgaben" mit einer Realisierung 2025-2030 beschrieben:

Czechia: The Ministry of Defence announced a tender for the Universal Wheel Platform (UKP) for the Czech Army.

Originally, a 4x4 armoured vehicle weighing up to 20 tonnes was required, but the requirements may have changed (the technical specification is only available to tenderers). This vehicles will be used for engineers, military police and as an ambulance.

Initially, the Army wanted to buy 50 to 82 Thales Bushmaster PMV armoured vehicles in three versions for engineers only, based on the 2021 Feasibility Study and the experience from Afghanistan. However, this has been met with much criticism both from the professional community and from domestic defence industry companies that produce several similar vehicles.

Thanks to this and media pressure, the Ministry of Defence decided to issue an open tender for up to 200 UKP armoured vehicles.

The main candidates will surely include the state enterprise VOP CZ with the Bushmaster PMV, Excalibur Army (CSG) with its proven Patriot II, SVOS with its MARS, or Zetor with its Gerlach.

A framework contract will be concluded with the winner, with deliveries expected between 2026 and 2032. The estimated price is up to CZK 10 billion (~$432 million).

Tschechien beschafft weitere 22 TITUS in einer erweiterten Führungsversion KOVVŠ/M2 sowie zwei TITUS in der Basisversion als Fahrschulfahrzeuge. Der KOVVŠ/M2 unterscheidet sich vom bisher eingeführten Führungsfahrzeug durch Modifikationen auf Basis von Erfahrungen aus dem Ukrainekrieg. Lieferant ist Eldis, die Vertragsunterzeichnung ist in den kommenden Wochen geplant. Die Kosten für 22 KOVVŠ/M2, zwei Fahrschulfahrzeuge und Ausbildungsleistungen betragen 4,068 Mrd. CZK (ohne MWSt.; 164,35 Mio. EUR). Ein KOVVŠ/M2 kostet dabei 137 Mio. CZK (ohne MWSt.; 5,53 Mio. EUR) und das C4ISTAR-System 38,7 Mio. CZK (1,56 Mio. EUR):
