BAE Systems secures contract for Mid-Life Upgrade of the Danish CV90 fleet
This MLU contract follows the previously signed framework agreement regarding repair and maintenance services.
Under the contract, the Danish CV90 infantry fighting vehicles will be integrated with the new D-series turret, a leap forward in design and functionality which provides significant improvements in vehicle balance and new ways to introduce a variety of weaponry for increased lethality.
The upgrades include equipping the Danish CV90s with rubber tracks that both decrease the vehicle’s weight, freeing up payload for the addition of new systems, as well as reduce noise and vibrations, to minimize long-term bio-mechanical impact on crew and reduce crew fatigue. The upgraded vehicles will have an anti-tank guided missile (ATGM) and Defence Aid Suite (DAS) sensor system—increasing both the lethality and protection of the Danish troops. The delivery of the program is planned between 2026 and 2029 and will be executed in close cooperation with Danish industry and partners.
Das dänische Parlament arbeitet an einer Forsvarsforlig, die Investitionen im Umfang von 83,4 Mrd. DKK (11,18 Mrd. EUR) vorsieht, davon 48,2 Mrd. DKK (6,46 Mrd. EUR) zum Aufbau einer schweren Brigade. U.a. werden neue Kampfpanzer und Schützenpanzer angeschafft. Die Zahl der Soldaten der Brigade wird von ca. 3000 Mann auf 6000 Mann verdoppelt.

BAE Systems Hägglunds' managing director Tommy Gustafsson-Rask told Janes on 6 December that the company finalised an initial contract he signed with Brigadier General Jonas Lotsne, the FMV's director of Land Systems, in May.
Under the contracts, Denmark and Sweden are procuring 115 and 50 CV9035 MkIIICs respectively. The contracts include spares, support, logistics, and training.
They also include more CV90s financed by the Danish and Swedish governments for Ukraine, but Gustafsson-Rask declined to say how many.
Royal Danish Army Chief Major General Peter Boysen said the new IFVs are “an essential component of the heavy brigade we are currently building. The 115 new vehicles will significantly enhance Denmark's contribution to collective security and international operations. With the 44 existing vehicles, we will have a total of 159 vehicles”. Gustafsson-Rask confirmed that this would be enough vehicles to completely mechanise the Danish army's 1st Brigade. The brigade is currently equipped with Piranha 5 and Eagle V 4×4 wheeled vehicles, according to Janes World Armies.
DALO said on its website on 6 December that deliveries would take place in 2027–30, with an option to order more vehicles.
