On 23 and 24 August, this year’s #daloindustrydays took place in Ballerup, Denmark. At this lead event for the local market, the #PIRANHA 5 8x8 was presented with Rheinmetall’s #SKYRANGER 30 turret for the first time. This solution had lately been chosen for Denmark’s future very-short-range air defense capability and was met with exceptional interest by the official delegations from different nations.
As a first-time exhibitor, #GDELS also showcased at its booth the #EAGLE V 4x4, already in use with the Royal Danish Army and camouflaged with Saab’s multispectral #BARRACUDA system, and informed about its broader product portfolio, ranging from amphibious bridge systems and the new #PIRANHA 10x10 self-propelled howitzer to #ILS services.
Other systems based on #GDELS’ vehicle platforms were on display with our industry partners from the Danish #PIRANHA 5 program, as well as Elbit Systems (#CARDOM 120 mm mortar on #PIRANHA 5), and Diehl Defence (#IRIS-T-SLS on #EAGLE V 6x6).

Danish Army Piranha fleet to be equipped with Leonardo vehicle camera systems
Today at DSEI 2023, Leonardo has announced a contract worth over £10M with the Danish Defence Acquisition and Logistics Organisation (DALO) to equip more than 300 Royal Danish Army vehicles, including Piranha V 8x8 Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs) and Caesar 8x8 ART (Artillery) platforms, with integrated vehicle camera systems. The technology will provide crews with enhanced drivers vision and local situational awareness, allowing them operate more effectively in hostile environments.
The order was placed in December 2022 under the framework agreement signed in 2016 between Leonardo and DALO to provide modular vehicle mission systems across the Royal Danish Army’s fleet of land vehicles, with each system tailored to the individual vehicle type and role. The new contract covers 309 Piranha V vehicles comprising infantry, engineer, repair, mortar, command post and ambulance variants as well as the Caesar 8x8 ART (Artillery) platform and wider fleet spares. Deliveries have already commenced.
The integrated vehicle camera systems on the Piranha and HMEE both include the latest version of Leonardo’s DNVS (Driver’s Night Vision System).
Durchbruch für Skyranger 30 Flugabwehrsystem: Rheinmetall erhält Entwicklungsauftrag für Skyranger-Variante des Lynx
Zuvor hatte sich bereits das Königreich Dänemark entschieden, rund 15 mobile Flugabwehrsysteme des Typs Skyranger 30 auf Basis eines 8x8 Radpanzers zu beschaffen.
Ein Sanitätspanzer Piranha 5 des dänischen Heeres bei einem Assistenzeinsatz während der derzeitigen starken Schneefälle. Insgesamt wurden zwölf Sanitätspanzer für Notfalltransporte verwendet:
Das dänische Verteidigungsministerium hat im März ein Projekt zur Ablöse (!) eines Großteils des Radpanzer "Piranha 5" angekündigt. Die 1. Brigade soll zu einer schweren Brigade mit bis zu 6000 Soldaten umstrukturiert werden, wobei ein wesentlicher Teil der Maßnahmen bis 2028 umgesetzt sein soll. Die "Piranha 5" sollen mit neuen Kampfpanzern und einer großen Anzahl Schützenpanzer ersetzt werden. Dafür sind 48 Mrd. DKK (6,44 Mrd. EUR) veranschlagt.
Das dänische Heer hat beim Danske Artilleriregiment die 4. Luftværnsbatteri strukturiert. Diese bestehend momentan aus einem Projektteam, das den Udviklings- og Planlægningsstaben und die Rüstungsbehörde Forsvarsministeriets materiel- og indkøbsstyrelse (FMI) bei der Beschaffung der Fliegerabwehrversion des "Piranha 5" unterstützt. Darüber hinaus bildet das Projektteam das Personal der künftigen Fliegerabwehrbatterie im In- und Ausland aus.
4. LUFTVÆRNSBATTERI
Luftværnsbatteriet består på nuværende tidspunkt af et projektteam. Teamet bistår i dagligdagen primært Udviklings- og Planlægningsstaben og Forsvarsministeriets materiel- og indkøbsstyrelse (FMI) i relation til anskaffelsen af Hærens kommende luftværn. Parallelt hermed, gennemføres der uddannelse og kompetenceudvikling af batteriets medarbejdere i ind- og udland, primært indenfor luftværnsspecifikke områder.

Title: Amendment to Acquisition and sustainment agreement regarding acquisition and sustainment of mobile sensor systems
Description: DALO has signed an amendment to the existing framework agreement with Precision Technic Defence A/S in which the warranty period is set start running upon installation of the product. The 6-year liability period for system defects is not included in the amendment and will remain unchanged. According to DALO's assessment the amendment does not entail a change of fundamental elements in the existing framework agreement, as the change alone entails a more burdensome liability obligation for the supplier than the framework agreement originally authorized, and it is DALO’s assessment that the change is legal under procurement law.
Interessant daß die Lösung mit 3 Radarelementen nun auch hier kommt - also die Lösung die auch der Pandur EVO bekommt. Ist dann auch spannend ob hier auch der leichte Turm zur Anwendung kommt. Bei der Nutzlast des Piranha ist die Frage was mach ich damit - da könnte man die Kampfbeladung erhöhen oder weitere Systeme reinpacken - bin gespannt
