Leonardo DRS Awarded $49 Million Contract for Additional Advanced Joint Assault Bridge Systems

Leonardo DRS, Inc. (NASDAQ: DRS) announced today that it has been awarded a contract to build additional advanced Joint Assault Bridge systems for the U.S. Army and the Romanian military (through a Foreign Military Sales agreement). Under the contract, the award is worth more than $49 million.

In der Phase I des Programms „Tanc principal de luptă" wurden 54 M1A2 SEP v3, 4 Bergepanzer, 4 Brückenlegepanzer und 4 Minenräumpanzer für 1.068.526.88 $ beschafft. In der nun vorliegenden Etappe I der Phase II ist der Kauf folgender ergänzender Rüstungsgüter geplant:

• Sprengladungen zur Räumung von Minenfeldern

  • 80 Sprengladungen

• 2112 120 mm TPMP-T Panzergranaten M1002

• 5130 120 mm KE-W Panzergranaten

• 3660 Rauchgranaten M76

• 4356 120 mm Übungsgranaten M865A1

• 1 taktischer Panzerausbildungssimulator - Niveau Besatzung, Zug und Kompanie

• 1 Schießausbildungssimulator für Panzerwaffen

• 1 Fahrausbildungssimulator

• Ersatzteile

• Testgeräte

• Unterstützungs- und technische Hilfsleistungen

• Transportleistungen

• Ausbildung

Kosten: 458,2 Mio. $

Die Etappe II der Phase II umfasst folgende Rüstungsgüter:

• 216 Kampfpanzer

• 76 Unterstützungsfahrzeuge
  • 16 Bergepanzer
  • 44 Brückenlegepanzer
  • 16 Minenräumpanzer

Romania intensifies search for more tanks and could look beyond Abrams

Romania has a programme of record for more main battle tanks, an issue reinforced by Lt Gen Dragoş-Dumitru Iacob, deputy chief of defence for the Romanian Armed Forces, at Defence IQ’s International Armoured Vehicles conference in Farnborough, UK on 22 January.

While Iacob said the effort had progressed to “investigating options”, some sources at the conference said movement on the effort may prove faster than implied, with a milestone in the process potentially being reached within “months”.
