New logistics trucks being delivered to the Canadian Armed Forces (21. September 2018)
More than 1500 trucks, 300 trailers, and 150 armoured protection systems are expected to be delivered over the next two years. This $834-million project remains on budget.
New batch of Unimog trucks delivered to the Lithuanian Armed Forces (12. Oktober 2018)
Successful collaboration with the NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA) is continued, on October 11 the Lithuanian Armed Forces received 54 Unimog U5000 trucks (permissible load capacity 5 tons) manufactured by Daimler AG of Germany.
Lithuania already has 88 such trucks received under an agreement signed with NSPA in 2015.
The Defence Materiel Agency under the Ministry of National Defence is planned to sign an updated agreement on Unimog procurement in 2019 with NSPA in late October. On preliminary data, Daimler AG is planned to contract to deliver another 110 trucks to the Lithuanian Armed Forces by September next year. The remaining 142 trucks can be ordered and delivered to Lithuania in 2020-2021.
The Lithuanian Armed Forces signed an agreement with German manufacturer Daimler AG in 2015 on acquisition of 340 Unimog trucks in order to retain the same truck make and to update its truck fleet. The contract foresees logistical support over the first 15 years of operation, specialised tools and testing equipment, and other assurances. The total value of the agreement is roughly Eur 70 million.
KOLLSMAN'S DAY/NIGHT RANGE SYSTEM UNDER CONTRACT FOR KUWAIT 25MM TURRET
MERRIMACK, NH - Kollsman, Inc. was recently awarded a contract by AV Technology, LLC (AVT) to supply the modular Day/Night Range Sight (DNRS) fire control system for the Pandur 6x6 Light Armored Vehicle with 25mm Multi Gun Turret System (MGTS). Deliveries to the Kuwait National Guard will begin in late 1997.
The DNRS is a modular system consisting of a thermal channel, eyesafe laser integrated periscope, commander’s display, gunner’s display and other peripheral components. Kollsman designed the DNRS in an internal research and development program to optimize the price to performance ratio. The modular concept allows integration in a wide range of turrets. Use of combat proven components resulted in a high reliability system with greatly reduced logistics requirements. DNRS has undergone extensive and rigorous field testing in environmental extremes ranging from summer heat in the Middle East to winter cold above the Arctic Circle. Based on price and demonstrated performance, DNRS is currently the fire control system of choice for seven major combat vehicle manufacturers in the United States and Europe. The system is in production at Kollsman’s Merrimack, New Hampshire facility.
The Pandur wheeled LAV and the 25mm MGTS turrets will be manufactured by AVT in Chesterfield, Michigan. The MGTS is capable of fielding a wide range of main gun calibers between 20mm and 35mm. The Kuwait order including options will total more than 200 units.
