Heer sieht Bedarf für NEMO-Mörser auf 6×6-Radplattform

Die deutschen Landstreitkräfte können sich offenbar vorstellen, dass das Projekt „Zukünftiges System Indirektes Feuer kurze Reichweite“ auf Basis einer neuen 6×6-Plattform in Kombination mit einem NEMO-Turmmörser umgesetzt wird. „Die kleinere 6×6 Plattform soll vor allem die Fähigkeiten der bisher genutzten TPz Fuch Fahrzeugfamilie, aber auch neue Fähigkeiten übernehmen. Für das Heer ist beispielsweise das 120mm Mörsersystem NEMO (New MOrtar) auf dieser Plattform von Interesse“, schreibt ein Autor aus dem Kommando Heer in dem aktuellen InfoBrief Heer (3/2023) des Förderkreises Deutsches Heer e.V. zum Thema „Mittlere Kräfte als neue Kräftekategorie des Heeres“.

Die Äußerung kann so gedeutet werden, dass eine Lösung des zukünftigen Mörsersystems auf Basis des Boxers – wie es beispielsweise in Großbritannien angedacht ist – derzeit nicht offensiv verfolgt wird. KNDS Deutschland – bis vor kurzem Krauss-Maffei Wegmann (KMW) – und der finnische Rüstungskonzern Patria haben erst Mitte Februar 2023 eine Variante des Boxers mit einem NEMO-Mörserturm vorgestellt, S&T berichtete.

ESD: On the agenda is a successor to the Fuchs armoured personnel carrier. Which solutions do you consider feasible? What is the time horizon for replacing legacy systems?

Schmidt: Initially, the next-gen Armoured Personnel Carrier project to replace the legacy Fuchs fleet was part of the special fund, but was taken off the list during the course of planning.

Nevertheless, the project is of great importance to the armed forces because the legacy armoured personnel carrier with its different variants has many capabilities, but after more than 40 years of service it is clearly showing its age and needs to be replaced. Within the scope of the project, a versatile, flexible 6×6 armoured transport vehicle should be procured, which, in addition to personnel transport, should be equipped with armament kits to cover a wide range of capabilities, such as armoured reconnaissance, fire control, mortar, EW [Electronic Warfare] and a command and control radio system. At present, there is a demand for more than 800 vehicles with 20 different armament kits or vehicle variants. Due to these diverse requirements, the number of suitable products is rather limited. One possible solution that can be procured quickly is the market-ready vehicle of the Finnish defence company Patria, which is developed under the ‘Common Armoured Vehicle System (CAVS)’ programme and is already being equipped on an international cooperative basis by Finland, Latvia and Sweden. The MoD´s Head of Department A signed a Statement of Intent to join the programme at Eurosatory on 14 June 2022.

Elbit Systems Awarded Approximately $170 Million Contract to Become Integration Partner for Swedish Army LSS Mark Digitization Program

Elbit Systems Sweden AB (Elbit Systems Sweden) was awarded a contract worth approximately $170 million to become the integration partner for the Swedish Army digitalization program LSS Mark. The contract will be performed over a ten year peirod.

As the integration partner, Elbit Systems Sweden will lead the roll-out of the Swedish Armed Forces digitization program for the army and integrate, install, maintain and upgrade command and control systems on a variety of platforms from command posts, vehicles, through to dismounted systems, and as such both support the growth of Swedish army as well as capability enhancements.

The work will take place at Elbit Systems Sweden’s facilities, increasing the local footprint, employing dozens of system engineers, technicians and field support engineers over the next few years, enhancing Elbit Systems’ commitment to grow and expand local know-how and capabilities of Elbit Systems Sweden.

The first batch of new Patria's six-wheeled vehicles handed over to the Swedish Armed Forces

The Swedish Army has officially received the first batch of new Patria's six-wheeled armoured vehicles, in Sweden called Pansarterrängbil 300. The vehicles, which were manufactured in Finland, will be part of the current expansion of Swedish Armed Forces.

These Patria 6x6 armoured vehicles will be based at Livgardet regiment in Kungsängen, near Stockholm and further south in Sweden. An official hand-over ceremony marking the delivery took place at Ground Combat School in Kvarn on 26 October, 2023.

Der Patria 6x6 wird die Bezeichnung Pansarterrängbil 300 (ptgb 300) erhalten und im Umfang von 400 Fahrzeugen beschafft. Diese sollen die bestehenden Patgb 180 und Patgb 203 ergänzen.

Das höhere Gesamtgewicht ermöglicht die Integration von schwereren Rüstsätzen (Türmen, Waffenstationen, usw.) und/oder Zusatzpanzerungen. Das ist an sich wünschenswert. Der Unterschied im Leergewicht soll bei nur 1,5 Tonnen liegen, was der unterschiedlichen Fahrzeuggröße geschuldet ist.
