Barrett state of the art American sniper rifles and FN MINIMI 7.62. light machine guns enhance Lithuanian Armed Forces warfighting capability
The Lithuanian military has been strengthened with cutting edge Barrett M107A1 sniper rifles in 12.7 mm (.50 BMG) calibre as agreed in a contract signed with the United States in 2021 as non-reimbursable assistance. The weapons arrived with maintenance and support complements.
The Lithuanian Armed Forces already operates slightly different M82A1 Barretts and other manufacturers’ weapons of the same calibre as the delivered U.S. weapons.
The FN Herstal S.A. Belgian-made FN MINIMI 7.62 light machine guns was another batch of arms that strengthened the Lithuanian Armed Forces in early October as agreed with the Belgian manufacturer in the contract signed in the beginning of 2023. The weapon is superior to the KSP-58, FN MAG, MG3s currently in use in the Lithuanian Armed Forces in terms of weight and sophistication.
Das norwegische Verteidigungsministerium (Forsvarsmateriell, Hærens Våpenskole) hat mittels der NSPA bei Galvion knapp eine Million (!) neue Kampfhelme vom Typ Batlskin Caiman bestellt, die ab Ende 2023 unter der Bezeichnung stridshjelm m/24 eingeführt werden. Anschließend soll ca. alle zwei Wochen ein Container mit den Kampfhelmen geliefert werden.
Neben den Kampfhelmen wurden auch große Mengen an Zusatzausrüstung wie Gehörschutz, ballistische Schutzbrillen und Lampen geordert. Der Vertrag hat eine Laufzeit von sieben Jahren. Der Auftragswert liegt zwischen 2,6 und 2,9 Mrd. EUR:
Erstaunlich, welche Menge da eingekauft wird bei einer Bestandesgrösse von unter 25'000 (aktiv) resp. unter 100'000 (inkl. Reserve). Wozu dies wohl gut sein soll? Spende an Ukraine?
We are procuring an autimatic carbine in calibre 5.56 NATO for use in the Norwegian Armed Forces. Together with the carbine, we are also procuring suppressor. The scope is described in section 2.1 in the main document and further specifications in Appendix 10.

Ukraine ist eine Variante. Eventuell agiert Norwegen auch als ‘lead nation’ für einen Rahmenvertrag einer gepoolte Beschaffung mit anderen Natostaaten über die NSPA?
Wednesday 15 Nov 23 – Galvion, a world leader in integrated head systems and intelligent power and data management solutions, has received major orders for its Batlskin Caiman® head system from Norway, Finland and Sweden through the NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA) contract, and is pleased to announce the first delivery has recently shipped to Norway. In December 2022, Galvion was awarded a framework contract that facilitates the procurement of their high performance Batlskin Caiman® head system and accessories, typically used by Special Operations Forces (SOF) and dismounted light forces, for NATO countries and partners. This announcement marks the placement of multiple orders off the framework contract and the commencement of deliveries that are expected to total over 80,000 helmet systems.
The NSPA contract was awarded following extensive user trials conducted by Norway, acting as the lead user nation, under the supervision of the NSPA. …

För att möta hotbilden för svenska soldater i internationella insatser har FMV på uppdrag av Försvarsmakten på kort tid upphandlat en hjälm med hög skyddsförmåga.
Från beställning till leverans i insatsområde kommer det att ha tagit cirka sex månader. Den nya hjälmen kommer heta Hjälm 18A och levereras under sommaren.
Hjälm 18A har en modern hjälminredning och är förberedd från fabrik för applicering av bildförstärkare.
– Den här hjälmen har ett syfte, att snabbt höja skyddsnivån för bland annat Mali-styrkan, och det kommer den att göra på ett bra sätt. Hjälm 18A ger utöver skyddet mot splitter även visst skydd mot finkalibrig ammunition, vilket genererar en något högre vikt, säger Magnus Hallberg, systemföreträdare personlig utrustning vid Försvarsmakten.
Nuvarande förband i Mali blir den första styrkan att utrustas med den nya hjälmen, därefter kommer förbandet som ska efterträda dem utbildas och tilldelas hjälmen.
