STATUS PÅ INDKØB AF NYT ARTILLERI
"The implementation of Hærens Taktiske Kommunikationsnetværk (HTK) is an essential part of GFE and neccessary for the artillery systems to interact with the other units of the Army, and an essential prerequisite that CAESAR can be linked to the upcoming digital fire control system (THOR)," describes Carsten Kokborg of KALA, project manager for the artillery project.
But it's not just the interior of the cabin that needs to be adapted to the needs of the soldiers. Also on the exterior work is done with the latest adjustments of the design to meet user requirements. Among other things, a ringmount with machine gun has to be mounted on top of the cab and day and night cameras to help the driver in the dark and at reduced visibility.
The first test the artillery system is going through is a so-called blast test that tests the cab's ability to withstand, for example, a roadside bomb. This test is being carried out at NEXTER Systems in early 2019. Hereafter the so-called Factory Acceptance Test (FAT), which is also being carried out by NEXTER Systems, is awaiting, but in collaboration with the project office and the Army users.
Then the first two artillery systems arrive to Denmark, where both the undercarriage and the cannon are once again tested, this time at Oksbøl. Here, input from the soldiers will form an essential part of the assessment of whether the systems meet the requirements. But before users are ready to drive around in the new artillery systems, they must complete three weeks of concentrated education, learning to drive, operate and fire the systems.
All 15 artillery systems will be delivered at the end of 2019.

Initially 15 pcs. CAESAR 8x8 are acquired, which are produced by the French Company NEXTER Systems. The focus is now on the completion of the design and subsequent testing, before serial production is started. An important step in this process is thr integration of the so-called Government Furnished Equipment (GFE). GFE is a common name for Danish equipment, which the Armed Forces itself choose to integrate into the vehicle. Here you will find everything from weapon holders to monitors, radio systems and antennas.
