Vantaa, Finland, 25 June 2019 – Protolab Oy is pleased to announce the delivery of the first Protolab 6×6 Protected Multi-Purpose Vehicles (PMPV) to the Finnish Defence Forces (FDF). Protolab is delivering four PMPVs to the FDF under a contract signed in 2018. The vehicles are being put through operational testing by the FDF as part of a wider modernisation programme to upgrade and enhance its armoured vehicle fleet.

The series of vehicles to be tested comprises six vehicles equipped for use by the Defence Forces, and they will undergo testing by the Army in field conditions in 2021.

By this purchase, the Army seeks to acquire information on the capability and operability of this vehicle with regard to the Defence Forces’ mobility requirements in the future both in Finland and on crisis management operations.

The Defence Forces Logistics Command made a decision on the acquisition on 4th Jun 2020.

The total value of the acquisition, value added tax excluded, is appr. 3.8 Million EUR with a direct employment effect of appr. 10 man-years in Finland.

The vehicles are intended to be delivered in 2021.

Oy Sisu Auto Ab has delivered the first SISU GTP 4×4 vehicles ordered by the Finnish Defense Forces. The delivery belongs to the acquisition of the SISU GTP 4×4 test series published by the Finnish Army in summer 2020, the purpose of which is to collect information on vehicle capability and operability for the future needs of the Defense Forces’ mobility both in Finland and in crisis management tasks.

The first delivery includes two different armored vehicle configurations, a five-seater general purpose vehicle and a ten-seater armored personnel carrier vehicle.

With the vehicles now delivered, the Army will implement a testing program, after which the other four vehicles of the test series, together with operation and field maintenance instructions and spare parts kits shall be delivered later this year.

The delivery includes two different armored vehicle configurations, a five-seater general purpose vehicle and a ten-seater armored personnel carrier vehicle, as such suitable for numerous operational needs calling for protection and mobility, as well as suitability for today’s missions of asymmetric nature.
