A New Level in Ballistic Head Protection
A Kalshnikov-type assault rifle, using 7.62x39mm iron core ammunition, was fired at a titanium aramid helmet (VPAM 4+) which featured two new modules intended to bring the level of protection up to VPAM 6: the FORTIS front shield was reinforced in the forehead area and, "a prototype of the world’s first VPAM 6 visor," according to the company, was tested in public for the first time. Hits to both forehead and face were arrested and a potentially deadly impact of over 25 joules to the helmet carrier demonstrably prevented. The additional components were clearly able to reduce the impact of the Kalashnikov’s enormous firepower – over 2,000 joules and a projectile speed of some 720m/s – making a frontal head shot survivable.
https://www.monch.com/mpg/news/soldier- ... level.htmlIn order to illustrate the effectiveness of ULBRICHTS’ high-tech head protection, the helmet was placed on a soap head of the same type used in official testing to measure residual energy transfer to the target. In the forehead and face areas, barely perceptible deformations were visible, which corresponds to a low residual energy of under 5 joules. The Güstrow result therefore corresponds almost exactly to the existing results for the FORTIS head shield from the official test conducted by the Beschussamt Mellrichstadt. Stopping the projectile is the main task, while the survival criterion is to reduce the maximum residual energy to a value of less than 25 joules, in accordance with the VPAM HVN 2009 guidelines – since that is the only way to ensure effective ballistic head protection.

Land Forces 2018: Rheinmetall Secures Truck Contract
Rheinmetall MAN Military Vehicles (RMMV) was awarded a contract by Australia’s procurement organisation CASG for additional medium and heavy trucks.
The total value of Land 121 Phase 5b is slated at A$1.4 billion and includes 1,044 trucks and 872 modules from RMMV as well as 812 trailers and other government furnished equipment such as weapon systems and communications devices.
According to a spokesperson from RMMV, the contract is an extension of an earlier Land 121 Phase 3b contract that ordered 2,700 protected and unprotected trucks. These were to replace ageing Unimog and Mack trucks as they were becoming increasingly expensive to retain in service.
https://www.monch.com/mpg/news/land/4086-lf-rmmv.htmlAs the 3b contract was due to end in 2020, before the RMMV production line stopped CASG initiated the 5b requirement and ordered the extra trucks.
Orders for the additional vehicles are the same as the original 3b contract. This means more HX2, HX40M 4x4, HX42M 6x6, HX77 8x8, HX81 and 45M 10x10 trucks. These fill a variety of roles including: cargo, crane, tipper truck, medium and heavy load carriers, those fitted with an integrated load handling system, fuel/water transports, heavy equipment transports, bridging and recovery vehicles.
Trailer suppliers include: Varley, Holmwood, Haulmark, Penske, ECLIPS, RPC Tech, and TRT.

https://www.defense.gouv.fr/english/ema ... atory-2018Système GRAM (Hirtenberger – Autriche)
