Portugal to buy fewer 4x4 light tactical armoured vehicles
The Portuguese Ministry of National Defence has reduced the number of 4x4 light tactical armoured vehicles (VTLBs) it is procuring for the army through the NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA) from 167 to 139.
The Portuguese Army spokesperson told Jane's that 107 troop carriers, 13 ambulances and medical evacuation vehicles, 12 special operations vehicles, and 7 command posts will be acquired in 2019-20. The maximum value of the procurement is unchanged at EUR60.8 million (USD70.3 million).
URO Vehículos Especiales and Katmerciler answered the NSPA request for proposals that closed on 16 August 2017.
EID supplies communications for Portuguese Army Light Armoured Vehicles (4. Oktober 2018)
EID is proud to announce the award of a new contract for delivering communication equipment to the Spanish Vehicle manufacturer URO Vehiculos Especiales S.A.
The contract amounts to 4,8m€ and covers the supply of communication equipment for 139 VAMTEC vehicles.
The contract will last for the next 24 months. URO was down selected as the supplier of the 4x4 Light Armoured Tactical Vehicles to the Portuguese Army after an International competitive tender managed by NSPA (NATO Support and Procurement Agency).
The Spanish manufacturer selected EID as its partner to supply the vehicles communications systems.

Noch im April 2019 beginnt die Auslieferung von 126 Systemen an den spanischen Hersteller URO Vehiculos Especiales S.A. (UROVESA). Dieser verbaut die Systeme in 126 von 139 geschützten Patrouillenfahrzeugen des Typs VAMTAC, welche die Streitkräfte Portugals im Juli 2018 über die NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA) beschafft haben. Die Lieferungen werden im März 2020 abgeschlossen sein.

According to Maj Camilo, the fleet, purchased through NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA), cost EUR60.8 million and comprises 107 troop carriers, 12 special operations vehicles (three of which are fitted with a satellite communications [satcom] suite for a command role), 7 command post vehicles with satcom system, and 13 ambulances in three variants for the Commandos Battalion, 1st and 2nd Paratrooper Infantry Battalion, Special Operations Force, and Medical Battalion.
