Portugal kauft EMBRAER KC-390

The Portuguese Air Force (FAP) formally activated its new transport squadron on 20 May.

Five Embraer KC-390 Millennium multimission transport aircraft will be operated by 506 Squadron at Beja Air Base No 11.

The first aircraft, which is undergoing final certification by the Portuguese National Aeronautical Authority, will be formally received in 2023. The final aircraft is scheduled for delivery in 2027.

The contract includes a Rheinmetall full flight simulator; maintenance of the fleet; an Elbit systems electronic warfare suite and related support; ground support equipment; maintenance of the V2500-E5 engine; medical evacuation (medevac) kit; firefighting module; air-to-air refuelling system; the construction of new infrastructure; and refurbishing existing infrastructure, the Ministry of National Defence told Janes.

The Portuguese KC-390 includes NATO standard equipment, such as the Link-16 datalink system; a Mode 4/5 identification friend or foe transponder; and communications equipment.

Aber immer nur Asphaltlandungen des Cargoflugzeugs C-390, KC heisst bekanntlich Tanker. Sand und Wiesenlandungen sind wie man weis besondere Herausforderungen ans Fahrwerk, mal sehen.
Ein Monat Ausbildung ist ja auch gerade nicht lange, gut das die Brasilianer portugiesisch sprechen,
und sage und schreibe 8000 Flugstunden auf diesen Maschinentyp insgesamt! Seit Erstflug 3.2.2015, also in 8 Jahren 1000 Flugstunden (gemittelt natürlich nur) bei wie vielen Maschinen? 10? Sagen wir mal 100 Flugstunden pro Maschine, nur ne Milchmädchenrechnung, bei den Distanzen in Brasilien also weites Land Südamerika: 10-20 Starts Landungen, tolle Leistung

Embraer Eyes European Market For KC-390 And Super Tucano Sales

Portugal soon will take formal delivery of the first of five C-390 Millenium airlifters, while the Netherlands is expected by year-end to sign contracts for a planned fleet of five aircraft.

Portugal has provided a useful test case for the C-390’s introduction into Europe, with Embraer installing what it calls a NATO operations package, which includes a Link 16 datalink, military satellite navigation system, new transponders and encrypted radios.

Similar equipment is set to be installed on Hungary’s two aircraft and envisioned for the Netherlands’ five. Portugal also has recently flown its first KC-390 equipped with an Elbit-developed electronic-warfare pod on the outer wing pylons.
