Embraer downplays large narrowbody ambitions in favour of C-390 and E2 platforms
Embraer scored big last year by securing a $544 million order from South Korea for a trio of C-390s, representing its first order of the type in Asia-Pacific. And it is in the “final stages” of negotiating a joint deal with the governments of Austria and the Netherlands that would include delivery of nine C-390s and options for a further six.
Embraer will deliver four C-390s in 2024, though it has capacity to manufacture up to 18 of the jets at its production facility in Gaviao Peixoto; da Costa says Embraer “needs the supply chain to catch up to demand”.
It estimates it will produce six C-390s in 2026 and ramp up to making about a dozen of the jets annually by 2030.

Gilt die Option auf etwaig weitere 6 Stück nur für die Niederlande oder könnte gar noch eine für uns abfallen? ;-)
Ich glaube nicht, dass unser Bedarf größer ist als die vier, die bestellt werden. Aber die Option könnte an ein zusätzliches Land abgegeben werden.

Mitte Juli wird bei der Farnborough Luftfahrtmesse in Großbritannien gemeinsam mit den Niederländern der Ankauf von vier Stück C-390M Transportflugzeugen unterschrieben. Sie sollen die stark veralteten und fehleranfälligen C-130K „Hercules“ ab Mitte 2028 ablösen. Volumen: 1 Milliarde Euro.
1 Milliarde???
4 x 150 = 600 Millionen Euro.
Was kommt da noch wenn man fragen darf?
Simulator, Waldbrandbekämpfung, Infrastruktur, ein größeres Package?
Schon klar dass es nicht nur bei den Kosten für die nackten Stückzahlen bleibt.
Es ist zwar nur die Krone, aber um tatsächlich 1 Milliarde dahingehend vollumfänglich in den Raum zu werfen, muss schon noch mehr folgen, wie ich vermeine.

Austria Eyes Embraer C-390 Test Aircraft As Airlift Gap-Filler
“Support is urgently needed, even if it is not the final C-390 version which we will get in the future,” Maj. Gen. Gerfried Promberger, the Austrian Air Force chief, told Aviation Week in an exclusive interview here. He said there is merit in the gap-filler idea given the current operational situation.
But Vienna does not expect to receive the first of those transports until 2027.
“We will provide and offer a solution to Austria. I’m ready,” Embraer Defense CEO Bosco da Costa, Jr. said in a June interview.
The decision to pursue a bridging option rests with the defense armaments directorate, not the service, Promberger said. “I hope that they will seek talks” with Embraer, he said.
The final contract between Embraer and the Dutch and Austrian buyers is due to be signed soon, the air chief said. The acquisition will provide an important change in capability, Promberger said, a sentiment echoed by Costa.
Promberger said European air forces operating the C-390 will provide the benefit of establishing a user group, not unlike the relationship many air forces have had with the C-130. The C-390 user group, beyond Austria and the Netherlands, could include Brazil, Portugal, the Czech Republic and Hungary, as well as other future operators, he suggested. Promberger said there could be other ways for European countries to work together, including by establishing a joint maintenance, repair and overhaul network or picking one or two sites for joint simulator training.
