https://www.mbda-systems.com/mbda-signe ... alian-navyMBDA has signed a contract with the National Directorate of Naval Armaments for the production of the TESEO MK2/E anti-ship missile, which is currently under development for the Italian Navy.
The contract covers the supply of new generation TESEO MK2/E anti-ship missiles, which will equip new units of the Italian Navy. This includes the FREMM EVO class frigates, the MPCS/PPA (Multi-Purpose Combat Ship/Pattugliatori Polivalenti d'Altura) and the new generation DDX destroyers. The missile will also complement the previous MK2/A version, which is already in-service on the FREMM and Horizon class naval units.
The production contract follows the previous one signed in 2021 for the development, integration and qualification of the missile.

Castellammare di Stabia, #Italy 28 October 2025, the 3rd French LSS bow section built under the auspices of the #French-#Italian cooperation and the contractual framework of OCCAR (Organisation for Joint Armament Co-operation), began its trip to Saint-Nazaire in #France.
The bow section has a total weight of 3.000 tonnes and is 73,82 meters long, 27,6 meters of breadth and 20,6 meters high.
Led by tugs, this section is awaited at the Chantiers de l'Atlantique shiyard for the end of November for its assembly with the rear section built in Saint-Nazaire.
The delivery of this 3rd #French Logistic Support Ship #LSS vessel called “Emile Bertin” is planned for the second half of 2027.

The vessel’s configuration and available spaces allow it to be adapted for multiple operational roles, ensuring flexibility and rapid reconfiguration based on mission needs.
The unit will undergo refitting at the Group’s shipyard in Palermo, with the aim of transforming it into a technologically advanced platform fully integrated within the national capability system.

According to the Technical Operational Requirements issued by the Italian Navy, the new generation Destroyers (DDX) are a technological development of the FREMM Evolution (EVO) program. Such developments involve technological evolution of specifically complex equipment and systems, streamlining of the logistical footprint in Italy as well as specific interoperability and safety requirements to ensure the functioning of the Italian Navy. FREMM EVO is based on a FREMM design whose background information are exclusively detained by the prime contractor Orizzonte Sistemi Navali Spa, who is design authority for the whole warship integration and holds, either directly or through its parent companies, the exclusive industrial and intellectual rights of FREMM EVO and its technological evolutions currently being developed within the program, which represent the base for the development of the new DDX and the sole capable of fulfilling the operational requirements of the Italian Navy. Orizzonte Sistemi Navali Spa therefore exclusively detains or can access to all of the required complex ensemble of technical knowhow, industrial and intellectual rights, availability of means, structures, organizational and territorial presence capable of guaranteeing, over a multiyear perspective the development and construction of the ships, their lifecycle inservice support, management of technological evolution and obsolescence, security of supplies in an integrated manner with the operational, logistical and territorial structures of the Italian Navy. Therefore, the contract can be awarded to Orizzonte Sistemi Navali Spa according a negotiated procedure without prior publication of a contract notice pursuant to Article 28(1)(e) of Directive 2009/81/EC, being the Italian prime contractor the sole economic operator capable – directly or by means of its parent companies to meet the whole program requirements, for undeniable reasons of both technical nature and connected with the protection of exclusive rights.
