L3Harris Technologies (NYSE:LHX) announced today receiving a $40 million Department of Defense contract to deliver 14 Vehicle Agnostic Modular Palletized ISR Rocket Equipment -- or VAMPIRE™ multi-purpose weapons system - to strengthen Ukrainian security defense efforts.

The portable VAMPIRE kit will allow Ukraine ground forces to target and shoot down enemy drones and defend against adversary ground threats.

Under the DoD contract, L3Harris will install VAMPIRE kits on U.S. government-provided vehicles for agile combat support to the Ukrainian battlefield. The contract calls for L3Harris to deliver 14 VAMPIRE systems to DoD, with four delivered by mid-2023 and ten more delivered by the end of 2023.

The VAMPIRE prototype, submitted to DoD in April, was selected in August as part of DoD’s $3 billion security assistance package under the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative. The company began field testing in 2021 and continued range and durability tests in summer 2022.

VLISSINGEN, Netherlands — Army equipment to include M1 Abrams main battle tanks, Bradley infantry fighting vehicles and a wide range of wheeled vehicles belonging to the 3rd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division deployed to Europe this week at the port in Vlissingen, Netherlands.

The 3rd ABCT is deploying from Fort Carson, Colorado, for its preplanned, nine-month rotation in support of Atlantic Resolve. Approximately 1,300 vehicles and equipment items will arrive at the port facility and be staged for onward movement using rail and commercial line-haul transportation modes.

The armored brigade will deploy nearly 4,000 Soldiers and after arriving here in theater is ready to begin its mission.

“Our mission here is to make sure all the armored brigade equipment from 4th ID makes it safely to Poland,” said 2nd Lt. Jack Babbitt, 627th Movement Control Team.

The Department of the Army announced today the upcoming winter rotational deployment of the 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, to Europe.

The 2nd ABCT, stationed at Fort Hood, Texas, will replace the 3rd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, as part of a regular rotation of forces to support the United States’ commitment to Atlantic Resolve.

Het gaat in totaal om 1.275 voertuigen van een Amerikaanse landmachteenheid die naar Polen en Litouwen gaat. Het transport duurt tot begin februari en wordt ondersteund door Nederlandse militairen.

De zogenoemde Host Nation Support (HNS, gastlandsteun) is gevraagd voor de Amerikaanse 2nd Brigade van de 1st Cavalry Division, Armored Brigade Combat Team uit Fort Hood, Texas. Deze brigade gaat voor een half jaar naar Polen en Litouwen, als onderdeel van de versterkte militaire aanwezigheid aan de Oostflank van het NAVO-grondgebied.

  That is why the President today called on Congress to support a European Reassurance Initiative of up to $1 billion, which will enable us in the next year to undertake measures to:

  European Reassurance Initiative
  
  The European Reassurance Initiative that the President announced in Poland on June 3rd would provide temporary support to bolster the security and capacity of our NATO allies and partner states in Europe. The Administration is requesting $925 million for DOD and $75 million for State for the following purposes: 
  

  • expand military presence in Europe, especially in Central and Eastern Europe;

  • increase bilateral and multilateral exercises and training with allies and partners;

  • improve infrastructure to allow for greater responsiveness;

  • enhance prepositioning of U.S. equipment in Europe; and

  • intensify efforts to build partner capacity for newer NATO members and other partners

The U.S. took several immediate steps to demonstrate solidarity with our NATO allies, such as augmenting the air, ground and naval presence in the region, and enhancing previously scheduled exercises.

Russia's aggressive actions have already led many to call for reinforcing NATO's readiness through Article 5-related planning training and adjustments to force posture.

Operation Atlantic Resolve will remain in place as long as the need exists to reassure our allies and deter Russia from regional hegemony.

Atlantic Resolve builds readiness, increases interoperability and enhances the bond between ally and partner militaries using multinational training events in Bulgaria, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland and Romania.

Since April 2014, U.S. Army Europe has led the Department of Defense’s Atlantic Resolve land efforts by bringing units based in the U.S. to Europe for nine months at a time.

There are 3 types of Atlantic Resolve rotations – armored, aviation and sustainment task force.

These rotations are overseen by the Mission Command Element, a regionally aligned headquarters based in Poznan, Poland.

There are approximately 6,000 Soldiers participating in Atlantic Resolve at any given time.
