This Request for Information (RFI) is related to a new generation of tracked combat vehicles intended for use as infantry fighting vehicles as well as for other combat and combat support roles, primarily within mechanized battalions in army brigades. The primary purpose of this RFI is to gather information that will help establish a refined understanding of the market situation regarding Infantry Fighting Vehicles systems, which will serve as a basis for planning and assessing future acquisition programmes. The RFI consists of a Letter together with a Main Document and its annexes A-D.

RFI Scope Overview

The SwAF is undergoing a transformation to extensively grow and modernize the forces in order to substantially increase its readiness and capability to perform large scale operations. Warfighting capabilities under Sub-Arctic conditions (i.e. in Northern Scandinavia) is of high priority. In order to enable this, the Army has a need for an increased number of modern tracked combat vehicles.

Efforts to achieve this can be categorized into three streams:

1. Modernization of the current fleet of Combat Vehicle 90.
2. Acquisition of additional IFV of current standard.
3. Introduction of a new generation of tracked combat vehicles from around 2030.

This RFI is related to the above-mentioned Stream 3. The new generation of tracked combat vehicles is to be used as infantry fighting vehicles and for other combat and combat support roles primarily in mechanized battalions within the framework of army brigades.

Current planning is to begin introduction of a new generation of combat vehicles in brigades specially designed for Sub-Arctic conditions and to use it in parallel with the current fleet of combat vehicles. In long term (2040-2045), the new generation is intended to fully replace the current fleet of CV90, also in mechanized units designated for operations in southern Sweden and central Europe.

The planned timeline for the programme includes achieving Initial Operational Capability (IOC) with a battalion-sized unit in early 2030´s starting with IFV variant and subsequently building up forces in numbers and additional roles the coming years.

2024 wurden ein Driftstödspansarbandvagn 90 (Bergepanzer), drei Pionjärpansarbandvagn 90 (Pionierpanzer), 15 Granatkastarpansarbandvagn 90D1 und 12 Granatpansarbandvagn 90D2 (Granatwerferträger) wie auch weitere modernisierte Stridsfordon 90 geliefert.

Die Vapenstation 90 wurde wegen Problemen bei den Herstellerfirmen nicht wie geplant geliefert, weshalb die Dspbv 90 und Pipbv 90 nicht voll funktionsfähig sind.

FMV beställer vapenstation VS02 till Stridsfordon 90

FMV har tecknat kontrakt med Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace på en större mängd vapenstationer till bland annat Stridsfordon 90. Värdet på kontraktet uppgår till över 400 miljoner kronor och kan utökas vid behov för att avropa ytterligare vapenstationer till andra fordon.

– Vapenstation VS02 (Kongsberg RS4) är en moderniserad version av arméns befintliga vapenstation VS01 (Protector Nordic). Systemet tillför en rad viktiga förmågor till alla förband den används på med sina integrerade sensorer och förmågan att verka med flera olika vapensystem på längre avstånd i skyddet av fordonet. Vapenstationen VS02 tillför en väsentlig förmågeökning till alla plattformar som den integreras på, säger Alexander Sandercock, projektledare vapenstationer, FMV.

Anskaffningen tillgodoser behovet av fjärrstyrda vapenstationer till tre varianter av Stridsfordon 90, men även andra fordon till armén. Kontraktet omfattar också verksamhet för att integrera VS02 på Stridsfordon 90 tillsammans med fordonsleverantören H-B Utveckling

FMV hat mit Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace einen Vertrag im Wert von über 400 Mio. SEK (36,5 Mio. EUR) zur Lieferung von fernbedienbaren Waffenstationen VS02 (Kongsberg RS4) abgeschlossen. Dabei handelt es sich um eine Weiterentwicklung der VS01 (Protector Nordic). Sie wird in drei Varianten des Stridsfordon 90 integriert. Der Vertrag enthält Optionen für zusätzliche Waffenstationen zur Integration in weitere Fahrzeuge.
