Eine eigene Simulationseinrichtung für die C-390M ist dem Vernehmen nach im österreichischen Teilvertrag nicht definiert beziehungsweise ausgespart. Man hört zwar, dass man diesbezüglich an einem kombinierten Standort für die im Moment absehbaren drei mitteleuropäischen Betreiber des Typs (Ungarn hat bereits seine erste Maschine übernommen, Tschechien den Kauf fixiert und auch Schweden könnte bald als Nutzer dazustoßen) interessiert sei. Dabei werden auch der heimische Hersteller AMST beziehungsweise die ARGE Sicherheit und Wirtschaft der WKO erwähnt. Genaues ist aber noch nicht bekannt.

  4.2.11 Luftstreitkräftespezifische ABC-Abwehr:
  Kontaminationsvermeidungssystem für den strategischen Lufttransport
  
  Der Einsatz von Luftfahrzeugen und der Betrieb von Militärflugplätzen sind durch das Österreichische Bundesheer auch unter ABC-Bedrohung sicherzustellen. Im Zuge solcher Einsätze ist die Gefährdung einer Kontamination von Luftfahrzeug, Besatzungen, Passagieren und Flugbetriebsflächen nicht auszuschließen.
  
  Die ABC-Gefährdungen insbesondere für Besatzung, Passagiere und den Innenraum eines Luftfahrzeugs bestehen vorrangig durch die Kontaminationsverschleppung durch Aufnahme kontaminierter Passagiere und Güter. Da sich die Dekontamination von Luftfahrzeugen, speziell von Innenräumen ausgesprochen schwierig und aufwendig – bis zu unmöglich – darstellt, kommt der Kontaminationsvermeidung besondere Bedeutung zu.
  
  Derzeit stehen potentielle Ansätze, aber keine standardisierten Verfahren und keine geeignete Ausrüstung zur Kontaminationsvermeidung zur Verfügung.
  
  Basierend auf den Erfahrungen der Demonstrationsplattform C-130 Herkules wäre ein nutzbares Kontaminationsvermeidungssystem für die KC-390 zu entwickeln und ein Prototyp an das Bundesheer zu übergeben:
  
  Auf dieser Basis ergeben sich folgende Anforderungen Entwicklung:

  • Das Kontaminationsvermeidungssystem muss
    • auf einer in der KC-390 verwendeten HCU Palette konfiguriert werden können,
    • eine Kontaminationsverschleppung auf das Bordpersonals verhindern und dessen Tätigkeiten (z. B. Loadmaster) nicht wesentlich einschränken
    • aus einem Barrierenfoliensystem/textilem Bauelement bestehen, das
      1. leicht dekontaminierbar/wiederverwendbar (z. B. für biologische und/oder radiologische Kontamination) und/oder für eine Einmalverwendung (z. B. für chemische Kontaminationen) ausgelegt ist,
      2. einen Aufenthalt von Personen für eine Dauer von bis zu 12 Stunden innerhalb erlaubt (Luftversorgung, dekontaminierbare/einweg- Sitz-/Anschnallmöglichkeiten, Sanitär-/Verpflegungsmöglichkeiten),
      3. modular aufgebaut ist, sodass mehrere Paletten im Bedarfsfall kombiniert werden können,
      4. zusammengelegt im Packmaß Soldier-Box transportiert werden kann,
      5. innerhalb von 2 Stunden in das Luftfahrzeug eingerüstet werden kann und
      6. über alle notwendigen militärluftfahrttechnischen Zulassungen verfügt.
    • den gesamten Prozess von der Beladung/dem Einsteigen bis zur Entladung/dem Aussteigen mit/von möglicherweise kontaminierten Gütern/Personen abdecken (das LFz selbst befindet sich nicht in kontaminiertem Gebiet)

Jul 2024, 14:30Die jeweils ersten beiden Maschinen für Österreich und die Niederlande sollen Militär Aktuell Informationen zufolge in einer vorläufigen Konfiguration kommen und werden dann um die sogenannte NATO-Ausrüstung (IFF, militärisches GPS und alles was unter dem Begriff Krypto fällt) nachgerüstet. Das passiert allerdings nicht wie bei den Maschinen für Portugal und Ungarn (-> erste C-390M in Ungarn gelandet) im Kundenland, sondern bei Fokker in den Niederlanden.

Fokker Services Group (“FSG”), an independent aerospace service provider, announced today at the NIDV Exhibition Defence & Security (NEDS) event that it has been chosen by Embraer Defense & Security for an extended modification package including turnkey engineering, certification and modification services for nine C-390M military aircraft.

These modifications will prepare the aircraft for use as tactical transport for Special Operations of NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization), fulfilling a broad range of military and humanitarian missions. The final operating configuration will be the most extensive C-390M version once delivered and will be far beyond ‘just’ a transport aircraft.

Recently, the Netherlands and Austria confirmed a joint deal for nine C-390M aircraft for Embraer’s tactical transport. Five (5) of these will be operated by the Royal Netherlands Air Force (RNLAF), and the remaining four (4) by the Austrian Air Force.

Haifa, Israel, 10 December, 2024 – Elbit Systems Ltd. announced today that it was awarded two contracts with an aggregate value of approximately $175 million for the supply of EW (Electronic Warfare) and DIRCM (Directed Infrared Countermeasure) Self-Protection Suites to a NATO European country. The contracts will be performed over a period of five years.

Under the contracts, Elbit Systems will deliver its Self-Protection Suites for installation on the country’s Embraer C-390 Millenium aircraft and Airbus H225M helicopters. Additionally, the C-390 contract includes an agreement with another European country, providing for the delivery of the Advanced EW suite for installation on its Embraer C-390 Millenium aircraft.

The state-of-the-art EW and DIRCM Self-Protection Suite, to be installed on both platforms, provides enhanced defense capabilities by autonomously detecting, analyzing, and countering a wide range of threats. The suite includes Elbit Systems’ advanced Digital Radar Warning Receiver, IR Missile Warning System (MWS), Laser Warning System (LWS), Countermeasure Dispenser System (CMDS), and the MUSIC™ family DIRCM System. Additionally, as part of the C-390 contract, Elbit Systems will provide its SPEAR Advanced ECM (AECM) Pod, which can be easily installed and transferred between aircraft on the flight line.

Aug 2019, 20:13Elbit Systems announces that it was selected by the Portuguese Ministry of Defense (MoD) to supply a complete Electronic Warfare (EW) suite for the Portuguese Air Forces’ (PtAF) new KC-390 multi-mission aircraft. Finalization of the contract is subject to completion of the Portuguese Government approval process.

The complete EW suite to be supplied by Elbit Systems for the PtAF’s KC-390 aircraft will be comprised of a Radar and Laser Warning Systems, IR Missile Warning System, Countermeasures Dispensing System as well as the Directional IR Countermeasures (DIRCM) system and Active ECM (AECM) system. This complete EW suite will provide the platforms with advanced protection to achieve the customer’s operational requirements.
