https://questions-statements.parliament ... 3-11/37373The Armoured Cavalry Programme (Ajax) is projecting the delivery of over 180 operationally deployable platforms by the end of 2025.
https://questions-statements.parliament ... 3-18/39176As at 19 March 2025, 19 Ajax platforms have been accepted by the Ministry of Defence since 1 January 2025. Deliveries started before 2025 and a total of 91 vehicles have been accepted so far.
We would not routinely disclose figures relating to operationally deployable Ajax platforms in the interests of security and operational effectiveness.
Of the six variants in the Ajax programme – reconnaissance (Ajax), reconnaissance support (Ares), C2 (Athena), equipment repair (Apollo), equipment recovery (Atlas) and engineering reconnaissance (Argus) – the Ajax reconnaissance version is now entering service.
https://www.shephardmedia.com/news/land ... jax-plans/In January, the British Army said it expected to achieve Initial Operating Capability (IOC) for the Ajax ARV/joint fires observer vehicle (FOV) in the second half of 2025. This is defined as one squadron capable of being deployed with six months back up.
Full Operational Capability (FOC), which is all units converted to Ajax, will be October 2028 to September 2029. Training is already underway with earlier production Ajax FOV released for this role and these will be upgraded in the future.
On 27 April, the RAC announced that the vehicle would be used by the three Armoured Cavalry Regiments of the RAC – Household Cavalry Regiment (HCR), Royal Dragoon Guards (RDG) and The Royal Lancers. Additionally, they will serve with reconnaissance troops of the Armoured Regiments Queen's Royal Hussars (QRH), the King’s Royal Hussars (KRH) and Royal Tank Regiment (RTR).
The HCR operates as the armoured reconnaissance force for the 3rd (UK) Division Royal, the RDG is cavalry regiment within the 20th Armoured Brigade Combat Team and the Royal Lancers (Queen Elizabeth’s Own) are part of 1st Deep Recce Strike Brigade Combat Team. QRH, KRH and RTR will operate alongside and forward of Challenger main battle tanks.
It is planned to have 245 turreted Ajax ARV variants with 198 configured for reconnaissance and strike, 23 for joint fire control and 24 for ground-based surveillance.

In just 10 months, VSSP has delivered six major assets and has increased the site's immediate storage capacity to over 2,200 vehicles. This accounts for more than 50% of the total planned capacity of 4,100 vehicles.
VSSP is a £250M construction investment at the leading edge of the Army’s modernisation agenda.
