2nd European Air and Missile Defence Conference: still a lot to do to improve European Air Defence capacity

Italy, Crosetto announced, will send another SAMP-T unit to Ukraine in October, and it aims to buy 10 SAMP-T NG systems.

Among the points underlined by the French minister, in addition to the announcement that tests for the SAMP-T NG will begin in October, is that Paris intends to acquire 20 fire units by 2035.

Thales contributes to the production of seven additional sections of the SAMP/TNG for the French Air and Space Forces (18. September 2024)

As announced on the 17 September 2024 during the Conference on European Air and Missile Defense in Rome (Italy) by the French Ministry of Defence, Sébastien Lecornu, French Minister of Armed forces officialised a contract, through OCCAR-EA, to launch the serial production of seven additional SAMP/T NG sections for the French Air and Space Forces.

The SAMP/T NG system is developed through a cooperation between Italy and France. Natively based on the capability to manage the munitions of the Aster family (A30 B1 and A30 B1NT), it will be able to offer a multilayer capability by integration and coordination of SHORAD and V-SHORAD assets.

Each French SAMPT-NG section will be based on the Thales GF300, multifunction rotating active electronically scanned array radar and on the New Generation Engagement Module (ME-NG) produced by Thales.

The ME-NG is the core of the system. It is developed through a cooperation between Thales and MBDA Italy. The ME-NG is based on a common core hardware and software architecture able to integrate specific national requirements and different radars, to coordinate or to integrate various weapon systems based on diverse munitions.

Die DGA hat acht Starter für Fliegerabwehrlenkwaffen kurzer/mittlerer Reichweite VL MICA in Auftrag gegeben:

Frankreich, Italien und Großbritannien haben 218 Lenkwaffen Aster in Auftrag gegeben, darüber hinaus eine Beschleunigung der Lieferung bereits im Jahr 2024 bestellter 134 Lenkwaffen, die nun 2025-2026 übergeben werden sollen. Es geht um Aster 30 B1 für die Landstreitkräfte Frankreichs und Italiens sowie für die französische, die italienische und die britische Marine, als auch um Aster 15 für die französische Marine:
