The Ministry of National Defence is looking to enhance Lithuania’s air defence capabilities with a new mobile short-range air defence system. The capability is planned to be procured for the Lithuanian Armed Forces in collaboration with the Ministry of Defence of Sweden.
On December 20 in Stockholm Vice Minister of National Defence Greta Monika Tučkutė signed a preliminary agreement with the Defence Materiel Administration of the Swedish Armed Forces joining Lithuania to the short-range air defence system procurement contract the institution has.

First components of the short-range air defence system may arrive in Lithuania as soon as 2025 and the entire system is expected to be assembled by 2027.

The Defence Materiel Agency under the Ministry of National Defence has signed final agreements with Sweden’s’ Saab Dynamics AB on acquisition of the RBS70 NG (MSHORAD) system worth of approx. EUR 147 million with estimated delivery period between 2025 – 2027.

The Lithuanian Armed Forces will received the MSHORAD mounted on the Joint Light Tactical Vehicles JLTVs.

https://www.kongsberg.com/newsroom/news ... -kongsbergKongsberg Defence & Aerospace (KONGSBERG) has signed a contract with the Ministry of National Defence in the Republic of Lithuania for the delivery of more NASAMS air defence systems. The EUR 193 million contract will provide Lithuania with the latest technology and increased air defence capabilities.
As part of the contract, Lithuania will also upgrade parts of the NASAMS equipment the country acquired in 2017. The acquisition follows the orders placed in December 2023 to increase the number of NASAMS fire units providing Lithuania with the most modern and advanced air defence system.
