Hanwha Defense USA, Inc., a subsidiary of Hanwha Aerospace, has been selected by the U.S. Army to deliver prototype K9 Mobile Howitzers for its new Mobile Tactical Cannon program, marking the company’s first major U.S. Army contract.

The agreement covers the accelerated delivery of six prototype systems, with an option for 12 additional systems. Hanwha is also advancing a phased U.S. localization strategy that includes domestic production and support, with a new integration and test facility in Opelika, Alabama, serving as the Phase I launch point.
