Wenigstens tun sich die baltischen Staaten endlich zusammen bei der Beschaffung von neuem Material.

Die Verteidigungsminister Deutschlands und Estlands, Boris Pistorius und Hanno Pevkur sowie Ināra Mūrniece, die Verteidigungsministerin Lettlands, haben sich am 11. September in Röthenbach an der Pegnitz getroffen. Dort wurden die Beschaffungsverträge zum bodengebundenen Luftverteidigungssystem IRIS-T SLM unterschrieben.

By signing the purchase order worth around 600 million euros, Latvia will receive all the necessary equipment for an effective operation of IRIS-T systems, which will ensure the introduction of layered air defence in Latvia.
Deliveries of medium-range air defence systems are scheduled to start in 2026. Until then Latvia needs to train its personnel and upgrade its infrastructure, as well as fulfil other preconditions, so that the National Armed Forces are ready to fully operate and maintain the IRIS-T systems by the time of the delivery.
Diehl Defence has received a purchase order from #Latvia for the IRIS-T SLM medium-range air defence system. The order is based on the Framework Agreement signed between Diehl Defence, Estonia and Latvia on September 11 in Röthenbach.

The Estonian Centre for Defence Investments (ECDI) has delivered the Polish short-range air defence systems PIORUN to the Estonian Defence Forces, significantly enhancing their short-range air defence capability and overall independent defence capability.
