The Defence Materiel Agency under the Ministry of National Defence has signed contracts to procure different drone systems – small class surveillance uncrewed aircraft systems from a Latvian company Edge Autonomy, mini class surveillance drones from an Estonian Threod Systems, and micro class drones (quadcopters) from Deftools UAB.

The procurements total to nearly EUR 36 million. Most of the drones will be delivered this autumn and the remainder – in early 2025.

Approx. EUR 200 million is planned to be dedicated for drone of all types procurements until 2030, the average of EUR 30 million a year.

AeroVironment Inc.,* Simi Valley, California, was awarded a $54,861,545 modification (PZ0048) to contract W31P4Q-20-C-0024 for Switchblade hardware production. Work will be performed in Simi Valley, California, with an estimated completion date of June 30, 2026. Fiscal 2023 missile procurement, Army funds; fiscal 2024 research, development, test and evaluation, Army funds; and fiscal 2024 Foreign Military Sales (Lithuania, Romania and Sweden) funds in the amount of $54,861,545, were obligated at the time of the award. Army Contracting Command, Redstone Arsenal, Alabama, is the contracting activity.
