Defence Equipment & Support (DE&S) has signed an agreement with the US Department of Defence to upgrade an additional seventeen M270 Multiple Launch Rocket System (MLRS) and four Repair and Recovery Vehicles (RRVs). MLRS is at the core of the Integrated Review 21 (IR21) and the Army’s ‘Pivot to the Deep’. The Fleet Expansion effort is the first step towards doubling the number of platforms available for Defence taking the fleet from 48 platforms to 69.

The agreement will see platform upgraded at Red River Army Depot and Lockheed Martin’s Camden Facility in the United States with UK specific modifications being manufactured by British industry and shipped to the US for integration. Repair and Recovery Vehicles will be fitted out with their mission systems in the UK following the recent contract award to EKA Limited.

It has been announced that EKA Limited have been awarded a contract to upgrade the Royal Artillery's fleet of M270 Repair and Recovery Vehicles (RRVs).

The RRVs will not only recover MLRS but act as a mobile workshop allowing launchers to be repaired in the field and return to action in a fraction of the time. The upgrade requirements have been developed by #REME Maintainers and Recovery Mechanics putting the User at the heart of developing the capability. They will continue to support the upgrade through development, manufacture and trials before eventually accepting them in to service. This represents another important step to achieving the #BritishArmy’s modernisation of our Deep Fires capability through the programmes directorate.

British soldiers from the Army's Royal School of Artillery (RSA) based in Larkhill have been putting their skills to the test to fire the Archer Mobile Howitzer for the first time during a training exercise in the snowy, frozen military training area of Boden, Sweden.

The historical moment was the culmination of a 14-week Train The Trainer (T3) course provided by The Swedish Artillery School. The course follows the recent delivery of the first of 14 guns to the British Army.

So arbeiteten Deutschland und Großbritannien bereits eng zusammen bei Projekten wie dem neuen Artilleriesystem (RCH 155) und beim Radpanzer Boxer.
