Lithuania and Allies purchase EUR 107.5 million worth of air defence capabilities for Ukraine (14. Juni 2023)
Lithuania, United Kingdom, Norway, Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden and Iceland will procure air defence capabilities to Ukraine for EUR 107.5 million, Lithuania‘s contribution amounts to EUR 6 million.
The air defence capability acquisition is the first of the five assistance packages planned in the second stage of acquisitions of the International Fund for Ukraine (IFU). Seven allied and partner nations have collected nearly EUR 608 million to the UK-managed IFU.
Combat and surveillance drones for Ukraine bought in the first stage of the IFU acquisition are currently manufactured and scheduled to be delivered to Ukraine later this summer.

Major air defence package for Ukraine announced at meeting of Joint Expeditionary Force ministers
The equipment, worth £92 million, will be procured in the coming months through the International Fund for Ukraine (IFU) to bolster Ukraine’s ability to protect its critical national infrastructure, civilian population, and front-line personnel. The package will provide radars to help protect from indiscriminate Russian strikes as well as guns and a significant amount of ammunition.

The first round of procurement resulted in hundreds of proposals from suppliers, ten of which were selected. These included a consignment of reconnaissance and strike drones, which will arrive in Ukraine this summer.
