Großbritannien: "Battle Group Organic Anti-Armour" (BGOAA)

Beitrag von theoderich »

Das britische Gegenstück zum polnischen Programm "Ottokar Brzoza" und zum türkischen "Silah Taşıyıcı Araçlar":

RBSL and Supacat Unveil Solutions for UK MoD’s BGOAA Programme
At the DVD 2022 defence exhibition, RBSL and Supacat both unveiled carrier platforms for MBDA’s BRIMSTONE guided missile, aimed at the UK Ministry of Defence’s (MoD) Battle Group Organic Anti-Armour (BGOAA) programme which aims to replace some of the UK’s legacy ground-based anti-armour guided weapon systems.
Supacat’s version was designated ‘Brimstone HMT Overwatch’, and was based on an enclosed cab version of their company’s 6×6 High Mobility Transport (HMT) design, and armed with an elevating launcher armed with eight Brimstone missiles. RBSL’s version was designated ‘BRIMSTONE OVERWATCH ON BOXER’, and consisted of a mission module option for BOXER armed with the same elevating launcher with eight Brimstone missiles, and would be compatible with the UK’s BOXER drive modules already on order, requiring only a mission module swap. According to an MBDA representative, the launcher used by both vehicles was completely identical in terms of specifications.

In terms of armament, the systems are both expected to be offered with the Brimstone 3B variant, possessing an estimated range of approximately 12 km when ground-launched, which is sufficient to meet the MoD’s 10 km range requirement for the BGOAA programme.

It is noteworthy that as both Ottokar Brzoza and BGOAA have progressed, the companies involved have appeared to have scaled down the number of missiles on their respective concepts. Early mock-up versions shown in Poland used a launcher armed with 12 BRIMSTONE missiles, while one early concept graphic for BGOAA showed a BOXER using a fixed-elevation launcher armed with 16 BRIMSTONE missiles. In later concepts for both programmes, the total appears to have been scaled down to 8 BRIMSTONEs, albeit in Poland’s case this seems partially compensated for by the decision to operate the launchers in batteries of eight vehicles, giving 64 missiles per battery. The UK’s envisaged BGOAA vehicle formation structure has so far not been revealed.

In another departure from the earlier CG concept models, the ‘BRIMSTONE OVERWATCH ON BOXER’, featured a launcher which elevated and extended above the above the hull roof of the mission module, rather than being flush with the roof as on the original concept. An MBDA representative stated that although the launcher was higher than the hull roof, it remained within the maximum height of the UK’s planned version of BOXER, which will feature large roof-mounted stowage boxes on top of the mission module, in a slight departure from versions of BOXER in foreign service.

Brimstone’s ‘one missile, multi-platform’ versatility is being showcased at DVD2022, including:

Brimstone on Boxer

The Brimstone on Boxer concept being showcased at DVD has been created by both RBSL and MBDA in response to British Army’s need for a Mounted Close Combat Overwatch (MCCO) capability, as part of its future anti-armour needs known as Battle Group Organic Anti-Armour (BGOAA). Engaging quickly to deliver precision anti-armour effects at long ranges, the Brimstone on Boxer mission module provides the capability for Heavy Combat Teams to repel adversary formations and single targets. Rapidly providing an initial capability with current equipment and then spirally developing with broader battlefield integration is at the heart of this concept.

Brimstone on High Mobility Transporter HMT600 series

The Brimstone on HMT600concept has been created by both Supacat and MBDA to provide the Light Forces tactical commander with a similar and complementary organic Overwatch capability to rapidly deliver precision anti-armour effects at long ranges and in volume. Potentially integrating with in-service equipment such as the Forsberg Fused Target Locator (FTL) and MANTIS Battlefield Management System and also spirally developing over time.

Dstl unveils requirements for future anti-armour capabilities project (17. Mai 2021)

Bild
Known as Battle Group Organic Anti-Armour (BGOAA), the work covers 4 areas:
  • Close-In Self Defence (CISD): portable light weight munitions carried by Infantry sections
  • Mounted Close Combat Overwatch (MCCO): a long range system providing anti-armour coverage to the battle group, with concepts carrying multiple missiles weighing up to 50kg with a range of up to 10km or more
  • Close Combat Anti-Armour Weapons (CCAAW): Mounted and Dismounted, capable of destroying armoured vehicles even if hidden from view
The new systems will incorporate a range of advanced technologies such as:
  • Non line-of-sight capability
  • Third-party/remote targeting and control
  • New sensors to overcome ‘active protection systems’ and defeat the enemy’s electronic or electro-magnetic defences
The current focus is the development of the MCCO capability. Dstl is leading work with support from industry partners including Lockheed Martin, MBDA and Thales, generated through Dstl’s weapons sector framework contract. The long-range system will be capable of engaging targets up to 10km away with missiles weighing up to 50kg.

UK's Dstl kicks off next-generation anti-armour developments (5. Mai 2021)
The UK’s Defence and Science Technology Laboratory (Dstl) has disclosed details regarding the proposed roll-out of the British Army’s next-generation anti-tank capability, called the Battle Group Organic Anti-Armour (BGOAA) programme.

Speaking to Janes , Dstl and British Army officials described their latest concepts regarding the BGOAA, which is expected to enter service throughout the 2030s.

According to Lieutenant Colonel Mike Baxter, SO1 Light and Medium Forces, British Army, BGOAA will seek to identify potential replacements for a variety of legacy anti-tank solutions, including Swingfire, Javelin, Next generation Light Anti-tank Weapon (NLAW), and Anti-Structure Munition (ASM).

“These systems were designed in the 90s and 00s, with early 2000s conflict in mind, typically as dismounted systems and not optimised for on-the-move operations. During the lifetime of these systems, they have not really faced a significant armour threat,” Lt Col Baxter said.

“BGOAA takes the experience of the last few years with the aim of providing accurate, long-range engagement capabilities down to the section level against armoured and non-armoured targets,” he said.

Challenges being considered by Dstl and the army as part of the BGOAA solution include the proliferation of vehicles’ integrated active protection systems and multispectral imaging sensors, which can leave anti-armour platforms with “nowhere to hide”.

BGOAA comprises several sub-programme elements: Close in Self Defence (CISD), Close Combat Anti-Armour Weapon-Dismounted (CCAAW-DM), Close Combat Anti-Armour Weapon-Mounted (CCAAW-M), and Mounted Close Combat Overwatch (MCCO). MCCO is the first sub-programme to be actively pursued because of emerging requirements from the army.

A new team will compete for Britain’s next Ajax variant
The teaming effort and the building of a capability demonstrator were announced by the companies July 26.

The Army already has a nascent program, known as Battlegroup Organic Anti-Armour (BGOAA), in the pre-concept phase, which includes the armed overwatch requirement.

Armed overwatch is a priority for the British and likely to be one of the first elements of the wider BGOAA program the military will look to move forward with as the procurement effort ramps up.

Die Version im Container auf MAN/Rheinmetall erscheint mir ideal für das ÖBH:

Als Hakenladeversion schnell verlegbar, absetzen und irgendwo "vergessen", fire and forget eben
