Saab Receives Launch order for Deployable Aircraft Maintenance Facility
Saab has signed an order to provide enhanced aircraft maintenance capability to the Hungarian Air Force, using the mobile solution Deployable Aircraft Maintenance Facility.

Deployable Aircraft Maintenance Facility (DAM) is a mobile hangar solution that enables enhanced aircraft maintenance capacity combined with superior protection. DAM provides capability equivalent to stationary maintenance infrastructure, but at a fraction of the cost.
The Hungarian Air Force is currently operating 14 Gripen fighter aircraft on a lease-purchase agreement with the Swedish government. DAM will provide the Hungarian Air Force with an increased level of flexibility and reduce their dependency on stationary infrastructure for maintenance and protection of their Gripen fleet. A DAM solution can be rapidly deployed (in less than 48 hours) to enable sustainment of self-sufficient operations for extended periods of time, in any location, regardless of whether they are domestic or overseas.

The solution will be delivered in 2019.

„The system integrates US-built MPQ-64 Sentinel air defense radar and AIM-120 AMRAAM missiles with an indigenously developed Battle management C4I system called FDC, short for Fire Distribution Center. The FDC connected to a MPQ-64 radar forms an "Acquisition Radar and Control System" (ARCS). The missile has a horizontal range of up to 25 km.[3] Other sources cite a range of 'over 15 km'[4] but this depends on the missile version used.“
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/NASAMS

Difficult times call for alternative solutions (13. Mai 2020)
Every ten weeks, the Hungarians come here to drop off aircraft for inspection or collect them following an inspection. Just before travel restrictions were implemented in Hungary, two aircraft had been dropped off in Linköping. An inspection takes between ten and twelve weeks and, last week, the Gripen aircraft were ready.
In normal times, the Hungarians come to Sweden for meetings and inspection flights during a so-called handover week, after which they fly the aircraft home themselves. This time, however, the handover was done in Hungary. For this to be carried out successfully – or at all – a great deal of planning was required.

- “A few of us flew down in our Saab 2000, while our Saab pilots flew the Gripen aircraft down,” says Thomas. “The handover was carried out at the base in Kecskemét. Before we flew down, we had performed our inspection flights in Linköping while the Hungarians did theirs at the base. When everything was completed, we flew another of their Gripen back to Sweden to undergo inspection. Normally, the process takes about a week, but this time we did everything in one day. Everything went according to plan, much to the Hungarians’ and our satisfaction.”
