At the German Army's 21st Day of the Infantry at the School of Infantry in Hammelburg, Telefunken Racoms showcases the XACT nv micro compact image intensified night vision system family consisting of the XACT nv32 micro night vision goggle (NVG) monocular (usable as a dual monocular) and the XACT nv33 micro NVG binocular.
According to sources in the German procurement office, the BAAINBw, over 4,000 of the very light XACT nv33 micro NVG binocular (450g) has been sold to the German Armed Forces (Bundeswehr), to be used service crossing with the army, navy, airforce and Joint Forces Command.
The binocular has an optical magnification of x1and a field of fiew of 40° with a focus range of 25 millimetres. The image intensifier tube, believed to be by Photonis, is autogated up to FOM 2,3000.
DRAGON COMPACT for German Infantry

At the German Army's 21st Day of the Infantry at the School of Infantry at Hammelburg, Qioptiq, an Excelitas company, showcases its DRAGON COMPACT ultra lightweight multi purpose Thermal Weapon / Surveillance Sight provides all round capability for the dismounted close combat user.
The sight is fitted with Qioptiq LOGLINT Coating Technology to reduce sunlight glint and reflection, according to the company. It acts as a Stand Alone Thermal Weapon Sight, Clip On Thermal Weapon Sight and as an Hand Held Observation / Surveillance Sight.
The DRAGON COMPACT's all aluminum construction for structural rigidity and EMC sealing properties ensures good integration and compatibility with surrounding systems, while boresight stability is guaranteed through state of the art optical design and lens mounting techniques. Controls have been designed and positioned for ease of access and MMI designed for ease of use across all three roles. No focus control is required.
In the Clip On configuration, DRAGON C can be integrated with a wide range of Optical Day Sights in the range of x1 – x4 magnification. Light and dust shields can be provided to suit most common sight units. In the Stand Alone configuration, DRAGON C provides a thermal weapon sight capability with on board text and graphics providing graticules and control functionality. Magnifications of x1, x2 are achievable (via E-Zoom).
With a Field of View of 16° and E-Zoom magnification of x1, x2 it can detect a person at 500m, weighing just 375g (excl. bracket, batteries, eyeguard). Further features are: Detector 8-12 μm, 320x240@25 μm pitch FPA; Power Source: 2XAA Lithium Batteries; Running Time: ≈5 hours @ 20°C a d Video Out, RS232 Comms.
MINIE-D/IR NVG for IDZ-ES

At the German Army's 21st Day of the Infantry at the School of Infantry in Hammelburg, Thales presents its MINIE-D/IR image intensified (I2) night vision goggle (NVG) allowing to fuse thermal and intensified images, offering the soldier a display of an image in three possible modes: Full infrared (IR), Threshold or Contours (fused) with distinct colours for IR and I2.
At 500g and magnification of 1x amd a field (FoV) of I2 view of 51° the focus range is 20cm to infinity. The manually adjustable IR FoV is 36°(diagonal) with a MicrobolometeIR sensor with a resolution of 336x256 pixelsbat a spectral band of 7.5 -13.5µm. The Output Standard SVGA is 800x600 @ 60Hz (colour) in a data FoV of 42.5°(diagonal).
The MINIE-D/IR has been selected by the German Army for its IdZ-ES soldier modernisation programme phase 2.
