On the project

# The Army currently has 103 CV90 armored vehicles . The cars were purchased in the mid 90 's and has been a reliable and dependable vehicle for the Army.

# # The development of combat vehicles running on however , and there is a need to provide carts new capabilities in terms of increased mine protection, network integration (including command and control systems ) and self-protection in the form of remote controlled weapon station.

# # Furthermore, there is a need to standardize the vehicle fleet to reduce maintenance and logistics costs. Vehicles shall therefore partly replace some older cars of the M- 113.

# # The cars are based on a combination of new CV90 - hulls, upgraded and redesigned hulls from the existing 103 CV90 vehicles and upgraded turrets.

# # The project will deliver a total of 146 converted and new CV90 - vehicles. Plans are in addition acquired including unmanned ground and air vehicles, various ground sensors and communication systems.

# # The project will deliver 74 armored personnel carriers, 15 command and control vehicles, 16 combat engineering vehicles, 16 multi-role vehicles, 21 reconnaissance vehicles and four trailers for educational purposes. Multi role wagons serve several purposes , such as mortar or logistics truck .

# # The difference between the economic limit of about 10 billion NOK and value of the contract referred to in 6 billion is comprised of the following :

    - Remote controlled weapon stations
    - Unmanned air and ground vehicles
    - Spare Parts
    - Educational Material
    - Communication and more.

# # It is not desirable to provide further value to these elements when contracts are negotiated .

# # In addition, there is a larger uncertainty provision in the project.

Vellykket eksperiment (22. November 2012)
Erfolgreiches Experiment

Bild

BAE Improving Classic CV90 IFV (19. November 2012)

Zitat:
The upgrade program is complicated. Most, but not all, of the extant 103 Norwegian vehicles—one of the 104 originally ordered in 1994 has been scrapped—will have the original Mk. I chassis replaced by the larger, more-capable Mk. III. The Mk. III is 200 mm (7.8 in.) longer, 170 mm higher in the troop compartment, and has a 6.5-ton increase in payload capacity. A new machine gun—the type is yet to be decided—will be fielded on all vehicles.

Once the upgrade is completed, Norway will have 74 CV9030s in the basic configuration, the extended Mk. III chassis topped with the Mk. I turrets originally supplied under the 1994 contract, and with eight seats in the troop compartment rather than the original seven. A further 15 vehicles will be supplied as command-and-control platforms, their troop compartment equipped with four operator workstations, and another 21 as armored reconnaissance vehicles, both with Mk. I turrets atop Mk. III chassis. As this totals 110 vehicles, BAE will manufacture an additional seven Mk. I turrets, identical to the 1990s turret except for the integration of a Mk. 44 Bushmaster, as the original gun is no longer in production.

The remaining 34 vehicles will be based on the turretless Armadillo configuration unveiled at the Eurosatory show in 2010. Two will be supplied as trainers, with the remainder divided between a combat engineering vehicle (which will use the original Mk. I chassis, as the increased space in the rear compartment is not required), a mortar carrier and a reconfigurable multi-use carrier, which can be operated in casualty evacuation, as an eight-seat VIP transport or a cargo hauler.

“There will be a total of nine different configurations, so this is truly a challenge in logistics,” says Flemin. “As of today, we are actually ahead of plan.”

The program will proceed in staggered phases, with finalized design of the last variant to be delivered, the armored reconnaissance platform, about a year behind the basic vehicle schedule. Delivery of the final vehicle is planned for the second quarter of 2017.

The contract also includes a 20-year maintenance agreement, initiated on delivery of the first upgraded vehicle, and comprising five-year options.

Norske panserstyrker bytter fra stål til gummi (11. Februar 2014, VIDEO)

Bild

Bild

Zitat:

The Norwegian military has used rubber tracks for almost ten years, the upgraded M113 and a few CV90-wagons.

This is a CV90 Mk I like Norway acquired the mid-1990s and weighing 26 tons. The new armored fighting vehicles that will be used from 2015 CV90 Mk III which weighs nine tons more.

Norway is the first country that uses rubber tracks on a Mk III which weighs 35 tons.

Zitat:

There are several advantages of rubber shoes. Two words are safety and mobility.

Rubber belts improves congestion , especially on snow.

- They also provide a better acceleration. It feels almost like a few hundred extra horsepower, while reducing the fuel consumption, says Ragnar Wennevik, the head of the combat vehicle project for the Defence Logistics Organisation ( Flo ) .

He adds that rubber belts provide far less noise and vibration and thus better conditions for people and equipment inside the vehicles.

Zitat:

The downside is that when a rubber belt first blow , the entire belt broken. The steel belts replace the dead out joints continuously.

- We 've done verifying tests which have given very good results. The life of these rubber belts are comparable with steel tracks , says Gunnar Olsson is BAE Systems Hagglunds ' project manager for the Norwegian delivery.

There is more armor which is largely responsible for the increase in weight CV90 Mk III compared to the Mk I.

Meanwhile, the diesel engine from Scania upgraded with a pair of turbos and a few liters of displacement that increases the power from 445 to 595 kW , so the power / weight ratio is kept at 17 kW / ton.

Zitat:

There are also tests being conducted on a Dutch vehicle with drivers from Norway, the Netherlands and Denmark.

BAE Systems Hagglunds handed over the first of two pre-series upgraded CV9030 infantry fighting vehicles (IFV) to the Royal Norwegian Army on 25 February.

In total the company will provide the Royal Norwegian Army with 144 new and upgraded CV9030 series vehicles under a contract worth approximately GBP500 million (USD750 million).

The two pre-series vehicles will be put through extensive trials, before the main CV9030 production run begins in January 2015. Production for Norway will take place at BAE Systems Hagglunds' new CV90 production line in Sweden and should be completed in 2017, with a significant amount of final integration work taking place in Norway.

The latest Norwegian CV9030s are a mix of new build and upgraded vehicles and include improvements as a result of combat experience with the vehicle deployed in Afghanistan by Denmark, Norway and Sweden (CV9040).

The vehicles feature a high level of protection against a wide range of threats including mines and improvised explosive devices and a modular ballistic protection system. It also features a digital electronic architecture and cameras for 360 degree situational awareness and four crew stations. Production vehicles will be fitted with Soucy rubber band tracks as standard, although the first pre-series vehicle is not.

Norway is taking delivery of 74 IFV variants (known as SPVs in Norwegian service), 21 reconnaissance vehicles with a mast-mounted surveillance package (OPVs), 15 command post vehicles (STRILDs), 16 engineer vehicles (STINGs), 16 multirole vehicles (MULTICs) and two driver training vehicles with a special cab.

The MRV can be rapidly reconfigured for different roles including logistic support and mortar platform.

The IFV, command and reconnaissance vehicles are being fitted with an upgraded Mk I two person turret armed with an ATK Armament Systems 30 mm cannon and a 7.62 mm co-axial machine gun (MG).

The IFV, reconnaissance and command models feature a new Mk III hull with the other versions based on re-worked Mk I hulls.

All of the 30 mm turret versions will have a Norwegian Kongsberg remote weapon station (RWS) on the roof armed with a 0.50 cal M2 HB MG.This can also be used as a sighting system in the hunter killer mode and can also be operated from the rear troop compartment. This RWS is also fitted to the MRV variant.
